For a New Forest Christmas wedding, then Chewton Glen at Christmas is the venue you need. I was really looking forward to this Christmas wedding. Jane and Mick got married on the 20th December and this warm, cosy feel was everywhere.
The guest wore sequins and fur. There seemed to be a feeling of goodwill hovering around the room.
Mick was a widower and had had a wonderful marriage but was on his own for a few years. He met Jane over the garden fence and got chatting. They became friends and then they fell in love. It was very romantic and the warm, welcoming setting fitted their story.
They were married in The Morning Room at Chewton Glen. Janes's two sons gave her away. Sarah at Corbins florist, Brockenhurst had arranged white flowers in beautiful glass vases. Tealights in gorgeous glass baubles hung from the ceiling. It was 3 pm and outside the light was fading, creating a snug and Christmassy atmosphere.
Mick was enchanted by everything. He loved the Lake Suite decorations, the two long tables full of flowers and candles. Carol at Laurel Designs created wonderful menus and a stylish table plan. Mick’s mood was swinging from laughter to tears. He was so utterly thrilled to be marrying Jane, his joy was infectious. Jane was equally thrilled and was swept along by her amazing friends who helped her get ready, laughed and drank champagne all day.
It was the best wedding band. It was not a band on a stage, but a band that moved around the room, playing their instruments giving the wedding breakfast a carnival feel. The band were called The Iphonics and added a real party feel. The guests were singing and dancing. There was a lot of laughter and fun.
We ended with sparklers in front of the hotel. The air was cold but the glow from the Christmas lights was magical.
